Description
The tasting with a visit to the historic tower of Castagnole delle Lanze is a two-part experience.
It begins with a guided tour of the Castagnole tower, a panoramic spot overlooking the Langhe and Monferrato, with views stretching all the way to the Alps. During the visit, you’ll have the chance to discover the history of the village and its most iconic building.
The tower of Castagnole, in fact, is located in the highest part of the old village and dates back to 1880. It was built at the behest of Count Paolo Ballada of Saint Robert, who used it as a watchtower and observatory, but also as a shelter for his collection of plants and insects. Count Ballada was a great lover of entomology and botany, but also a distinguished scholar of military technology. When he moved to Turin in 1884, he left the tower and the surrounding land to the Municipality of Castagnole, which fifty years later inaugurated the Parco della Rimembranza (Remembrance Park) on that site, dedicated to the fallen soldiers of the First World War.
Once the visit is over, you can join us at our winery for a tasting of Bel Sit products. We look forward to you tasting four wines of your choice from across our whole range: the 25/9 rosé wine, the Càllido white wine, the Leffimero sparkling rosé wine, and the newest addition to the Bel Sit range, Piemonte Grignolino DOC Darije. Or, you can try our more traditional products: Barbera d’Asti DOCG La Turna, Barbera d’Asti Superiore DOCG Cunsej, aged 9 months in wood, Barbera d’Asti Superiore DOCG Sichivej, aged up to 15 months in barriques, and our Moscato d’Asti DOCG Biundurà.
The wine tasting along with the visit to the tower is organised in collaboration with the Municipality of Castagnole delle Lanze. Contact us to find out the available dates and arrange your participation. We look forward to seeing you.
